Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell works as a reporter for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has earned a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania. In 1967 Mitchell was hired as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. In 1976, she joined CBS affiliate WDVM-TV in Washington DC (then WTOP). Then she joined NBC News Washington two years after that as a general reporter. In 1981 began covering the White House and became chief congressional correspondent in 1988. Mitchell became the Chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell hosted and was a panelist at the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist at the debates in 1988 between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 for her work in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering in the White House in 1981-1988, in both the Reagan presidency. Mitchell has reported on a variety of notable reports over the years, such as budget reform, tax reform and the Iran Contra affair. She traveled frequently along with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
